The ìÛ-electrons of the phe- nil group can interact with the aromatic ring of an analyte to increase retention relative to less or non-aromatic analytes. Unlike, the standard Phenyl column, Phenyl-Hexyl allows much greater retention and separation of the aromatic compounds through its extend- end hexyl hydrocarbon functional group.
