Boker Plus® Shovel M1874 - German Field Spade with Wooden Handle - Army Short Spade Based on Historic Pioneer Spade - Short Outdoor Shovel with Bag for bushcraft, Camping and Survival Equipment

Are you looking for a high-quality field spade based on a historical model? After the knife, the old-style field spade or short spade is by far the most versatile outdoor tool imaginable. It splits firewood, cuts down trees, cuts a path through the undergrowth, pushes the campfire together, is a climbing aid on steep embankments, makeshift crowbar, emergency paddle and knife. Compared to the folding spades commonly used today, the army spade with wooden handle is considerably more robust, which pays off on outdoor adventures in the wilderness. Why is the army spade with wooden handle so sturdy? The Boker Plus Shovel M1874 is modeled on the first German field spade, which was introduced in 1874 by imperial decree as a portable entrenching tool for infantry and hunter battalions. The stainless steel blade and spring are connected with five strong rivets. The 40 mm wide steel ferrule secures the unbreakable ash handle. This old design is cost-intensive, as two punching and bending tools have to be produced during manufacture. However, it rewards you with unrivaled stability. Why is the field spade suitable as a modern bushcraft shovel? The edges of the spade blade are pre-ground and not ground out on delivery. It can be used for digging, splitting wood and delimbing, but for use as a machete and knife the edges should be finish-ground. To create a modern bushcraft tool, small adjustments have been made to the original. The sheath with belt loops is made of black nylon. The military shovel is part of every outdoor equipment for bushcrafters, campers, survival and off-road fans, militaria collectors and re-enactors.Invest in a professional field spade for rugged use with a lifetime guarantee!
